The houses are located inside a 270 hectar property, surrounded by the Sado river from the West, South and East. Large paddy fields extend from the river margins, and ancestral cork tree woods and Mediterranean pine trees cover its interior.
The river, with its rice paddies, and the cork tree woods create a rich and diverse ecosystem, with abundance of wildlife. Here, storks, herons, loons, ducks and other water birds inhabit the river and paddy fields, in peaceful coexistence with the hares, rabbits, partridges and wild boar in the cork woods.
The suites are decorated with bright colours and have views over the rice paddies and their seasonal variations: water mirrors in the spring, swaying greens in the summer and restful browns in autumn and winter.
In all suites you'll find air conditioning, free wireless, a cosy living room, a bathroom and a bedroom. All suites have one large common balcony, overlooking the paddy fields.
Our services include breakfast with typical regional products and a Honesty Bar with drinks and snacks near the pool. Consumptions will be noted down by the guests and paid for at the check-out.
In the common areas you can find: Living area under a shed; The “Heron’s Canteen”, where breakfast is served; Guests’ kitchen; Swimming pools; Reception and changing rooms; Outdoor playing area. In Casas do Rio Sado you can swim, play or just relax in one of our two pools, resting your sight on the peaceful rice fields beneath you. Explore our nature paths inside the cork woods or along the river, either on foot or on one of our bikes. Relax in one of the swings hanging from the trees. Cook, either by yourself or with friends and neighbours, in the guests’ kitchen. Observe the local fauna in a region where 91 different birds were identified. Contemplate the landscape, the sky and the stars in one of our viewpoints. And finally, relax on the balcony between stars and natural sounds.
